REMEMBER: When you arrive at the field, enjoy the festivities!! You can check out the venders, hang out with your friends, cheer for incoming runners. Whatever you do, don’t group up with your fellow flash mob dancers! One or two together is fine, but everyone participating should be in various places around the field. And, when the music starts, you can flock toward the action and enjoy watching! You’ll have plenty of time to act surprised, before you decide to come on and join in!

See Map to be aware of race course. Many streets will be closed. Allow plenty time to park and walk over.

BEAUTIFUL FLASHMOB ~ Current Info

  • WHAT

This is a surprise Flash Mob! Our mobs are about joy, connection, and community. You bring a willingness to have fun, good energy, and you help create a few electrifying and unforgettable moments of delight. This event celebrates the strength and power of women and girls! We’re using a “mash up” of fun power songs.

Join us for a few minutes of pure JOY!

  • WHEN

    Saturday May 9, 2026

We ask that participants aim for 9am to be at the field (latest 9:15)!

Note: though the flash mob will start between 9:30-9:55am, it’s important that you plan well ahead: allow yourself plenty of time (30+ min?) to park and walk in, as there will be blocked-off streets and unlikely parking close by. More info about parking below.

If you are running in the She Is Beautiful 5k, you can absolutely join us after you come through the finish line! If you’re running the 10k, as long as you’re a pretty fast runner, you could theoretically make it as well.

  • WHERE

At the end of the She Is Beautiful Race, at the field next to the lighthouse (700 West Cliff Dr) where the post-race celebration will be happening. We will likely be dancing on the grass in the field, with the venders and people all around, all directions. It will be a busy area, with loads of positive energy and runners coming in the finish line from their run!

  • WHO

All are welcome to join!! We welcome dancers of all abilities and people to film (horizontally) who will contribute their videos to the cause: iPhones can airdrop immediately afterward at our meeting spot, or alternatively upload promptly to a link that will be provided.

Note about DANCING: for those who want to participate but not learn a lot of choreography, there are options! The last song of the mashup is We Are Family, and that is designed for everyone to join. You can learn the few moves and jump in for that, or just simply dance freely to the end with us, or join our dance line around the field!

For those who want to DANCE DANCE DANCE, you can learn the FINALE3 - the final 3 songs - and try to attend practices, as many as you can. (If you have conquered those and want even MORE dancing, let us know asap.)

  • HOW

We have live practices (details below and in the FB and Whatsapp groups) and have provided video breakdowns below so you can learn the moves.

Please learn the Finale 3 (Better When I’m Dancing + Uptown Funk + We Are Family sections), and practice so you have the moves as solid as possible. We’d prefer you attend at least a practice session if you’ll be in the Finale3 with us (but if you can’t then just learn them well at home!). You can jump in at any time once the Finale 3 starts! So fun!

  • WHY

Some do this for the exercise. Some do it to make friends. Most do it for the feeling of connection with our community and because they love to dance! And ALL who do it relish the opportunity to spread joy and make others smile. And to have FUN. We look forward to knowing YOUR why!

NOTES

If you specifically want an onscreen video credit in the official video (assuming we use it), please make sure I have your full name as you would want to be credited, and you’ve identified which video is yours. (You can either change the file name to YOUR NAME, or send me a direct email at 80dances@gmail.com letting me know what footage you sent e.g. “I filmed from the left side”.)

Most ideal footage are horizontal, steady, contain good action from the event, and from iPhones. But anything is possible!

Thank you!
